Evening primrose oil contains the fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid, GLA. Gamma-linolenic acid is a polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acid. GLA is essential and must be supplied to the body via the diet or dietary supplements. GLA can also be synthesized in the body from linoleic acid. Vitamin E helps to protect the cells against oxidative stress.
