Fungoral shampoo is an over-the-counter medicine used to treat dandruff. The dandruff shampoo contains ketoconazole. Dandruff is caused by the fungus Malassezia which normally occurs on the scalp. Normally it does not cause any problems, but sometimes the skin can react. When this happens, dandruff occurs and symptoms such as itching and scaling appear as white flakes. There are two types of dandruff, one is dry, fine and loose dandruff that comes off the scalp and falls on the shoulders. The second is greasy and coarse dandruff that sticks to the hair and becomes thick crusts on the scalp that can be irritating with redness and itching. Fungal effectively affects the scalp affected by dandruff. The shampoo can be used by adults and children over 12 years of age. Things to think about if you are affected by dandruff: - Wash your hair with a mild unscented shampoo - Avoid tight caps and hats - Avoid hair gel, wax or similar If no improvement is experienced after 14 days, a doctor should be contacted
