EKO-Iodine is an organic supplement with 150 μg of iodine per capsule that is produced from whole organic algae. In other words, EKO-iod is a pure whole food product. The product contains only natural ingredients and is free of additives. Iodine is an essential nutrient, meaning it is essential for life. Iodine contributes to maintaining normal skin. This means that iodine is important for the skin's moisture, softness and pigmentation. Iodine also contributes to the normal production of thyroid hormones, to normal thyroid function and to normal cognitive functions. Cognitive functions mean that iodine is important for mental functions such as thinking, concentration and memory. The iodine-rich algae in EKO-Iodine are taken from clean waters, after which they are dried and ground into a powder. Ascophyllum is an iodine-rich brown algae. It is sometimes called Norwegian kelp, even though it does not belong to the kelp genus but is the only species in the genus Ascophyllum. Chlorella is a freshwater algae. It has a lower iodine content than most seaweeds and is included in EKO-Iodine to avoid overdose. Without Chlorella, the amount of iodine per capsule would be too high. Chlorella supplies chlorophyll, beta-carotene and B12. The beta-carotene can be converted into vitamin A if necessary.
