Divorcose is an over-the-counter anti-diarrhoea medication. They are used for temporary (acute) diarrhoea, for example when you have a so-called tourist's diarrhoea or other uncomplicated diarrhoea. The tablets contain loperamide and have a stopping effect by reducing bowel movements and counteracting fluid loss. The stool becomes firmer and the ability to hold it increases.
A doctor may also prescribe Dimor for chronic diarrhoea and after bowel surgery.
In diarrhoea conditions, the body loses more fluid and salts than normal. It is therefore important to get extra water.
Dimor does not affect the cause of the diarrhoea and should not be used in conjunction with fever, inflammatory conditions or bacterial diseases of the intestine. You should consult a doctor if the diarrhoea has not improved after two days of treatment.
