Neem is picked from the Neem tree, which is a 20-25 meter tall tree that originally grows in India and Burma. Nowadays, the tree is also found in West Africa and Southeast Asia. The tree can live up to 200 years, and is an evergreen tree, a tree that does not shed its leaves. In extreme drought or frost, there is still a risk of the leaves falling. Neem has a 4,000-year tradition in India – it is considered a sacred plant. The oil is an important ingredient in Ayurveda. Neem oil is extracted from the nut, which contains about 50% oil.
